It's Zelda's pet. Everyone knows Zelda has a pet plant. It's how she keeps those pesky Gorons at bay. It eats Gorons.

If this were an animation, It would just consist of movement lines around Zelda and the frame following the movement lines around her has her holding the sword in a slightly different position before the head of the plant creature slowly slides off.
